The wine is mulling, the tree is up and the parties are in full swing - there's no denying we are well into the festive season now.
We've a plethora of Christmas drink ideas for you here but also some top tips to make sure your drink sales fly as high as Rudolph himself this December.
So, without further ado, here it is: How to sell drinks this Christmas.
1. Keep it simple
Nothing dampens the festive spirit like a queue. Create a menu of simple seasonal mixed drinks that staff can make quickly when the bar gets busy.
2. Tap into the treat mentality
Customers are more inclined to treat themselves at Christmas, so make sure premium brands are prominently displayed.
3. Champagne sales
Champagne is key at Christmas, so train your staff to ask punters if they would like a glass as an aperitif and think seriously about reducing your GP% on wine to increase your cash profit.
4. Get in the spirit
Spirits are huge at Christmas – one in every three drinks served over the period is a spirit-based one (CGA). Think about creating a menu of seasonal treats from premium spirit brands to tap into two trends at once.
5. Take a break
Seize the opportunity to target thirsty shoppers with relevant drinks. Hot beverages, soft drinks or treat tipples such as a glass of fizz are tempting for those needing a minute or two to regroup.
6. Don't forget the little ones
A large proportion of soft drinks at Christmas are consumed by children, so stock a range of child -friendly drinks to capitalise on the extra mini-footfall.
7. Social media
A Deloitte survey suggests that social media will play a part in one third of drinks purchases this Christmas, so get online and check out our #pubsgetonline campaign for help and ideas.
